Flying Saucer

Price: $1.2 million

This dome-shaped home not only looks like a UFO but also acts like one. It sits on a turntable that can be rotated in all directions by remote control to give you a view of the lush forest surrounding it. Surprisingly the interior is said to be spacious with the first floor covering 54 feet in diameter and the tall windows incorporated by the design gives the feel of a cathedral ceiling. The home is located about 80 miles north of New York City and near Mohonk Preserve.

Desert Nomad House

Location: Tucson, Arizona

Price: $875,000

This home is made up of three steel and glass boxes connected by gravel paths which basically make up one room plus a bath. They are positioned specifically to give each room a different view of the Sonoran Desert. The house is designed to prevent the sunlight from heating up the interior with light-sensitive window screens which automatically adjusts according to the suns position.

Colorado’s Shangri-La

Location: Aguilar, Colorado

Price: $350,000

Consisting of eight two-tiered and interconnected domes, this unusual home gives the illusion of being in the fantasy realm of Shangri-La. With a captivating color scheme and an altitude at 6,700 feet above sea level, this beautiful home will leave you literally breathless. You can enjoy the views of the Spanish Peaks or the beautiful night sky with the wide windows that every room has. Not only is it covered with beautiful scenery at every corner, the naturally energy efficient home keeps this place eco-friendly.

The Minnesota Mushroom Home

Location: Minnestrista, Minnesota

Price: $194,000

Created in 1969 by architect Winslow Wedin, this polyurethane spray-foam home was poised to set a new standard in sustainable design but it never really took off. This home was built to withstand just about anything and stays warm in the winter with less costs due to polyurethane being a kind of insulator. If those specs don’t get you riled up to buy this unusual home maybe the chicken wire and 2×2 planks of wood holding it up will.

Arkansas Fairy Tale

Location: Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Price: $1.8 million

From one to five different structures on the property now, who knew that this single-family home would turn into a castle? The home is made up red cedar and black walnut wood giving it a warm look and feel to the estate. The main building on the estate features six bedrooms and a dining room that can hold up to 110 guests. With a look out of the windows you can see the White River and the surrounding countryside.

Of course these homes are a little bit more custom than what we do here at Cypress Homes but anything is possible in the future.
