Home Staging with Cypress Homes

Have you ever wondered why or how we stage our homes?

At Cypress Homes we stage homes in order to make it easier for people to envision themselves living there. Staging a home will show off its true value, it gives potential buyers an idea of how furniture will fit or how each room could be set up. When a home is staged, it gives a lived in, homey feeling that is much more desirable than just looking at four blank walls. According to research, when a potential buyer first looks at a home online, seeing photos of homes that are staged makes the buyer more willing to do a walk-through of the home. When a home is decorated tastefully, potential buyers are said to believe that the home has more value and that it is worth the purchase.

When staring into an empty room, the dimensions can be deceiving. When a home is staged, it makes it easier to be able to tell the actual size of the room and gives you an idea as to what types of furniture would fit in specific areas. When it comes to furniture, less is more. Only essential furniture and decor should be used for staging each room. With that being said, finding or using  furniture that is the correct size is a crucial step. For instance, in bedrooms, you want to include a bed, dresser and nightstand. For living rooms, you want to make it as cozy as you can. You can do this by adding furniture like couches and an arm chair around the fireplace. If it’s possible, make sure to keep furniture away from the walls. You want buyers to be able to walk around freely! Finally, when it’s time to decorate, use items such as candles, throw pillows, area rugs and artwork to bring the room together.

Taya interior designWhen first staging a home, Taya, our interior design specialist, will decide on the furniture and decorations that fit best in each home type. She also chooses the color schemes that will compliment each of the rooms in the home. Once everything is decided, the team goes to the storerooms to pick up the chosen furniture and decor. These items are then loaded into moving trucks in order to take to the home that is ready for staging. When everything is at the home, it is unpacked and strategically put into the home. Once everything is in its place, the home is ready for an open house! Staging a home is a process that takes a lot of work, but is well worth it when the home sells quickly.
