Community Profile: Little Chute


If you love your cheese, and all things Dutch, Little Chute is the place for you. At just under 11,000 residents it is a the largest village located in Outagamie County. Little Chute is also a community with strong Dutch heritage and has come together to help fund the construction of a 100 foot dutch-style windmill.

Location

Little Chute is located along the eastern border of Appleton and along the Fox River. Little Chute is about 30 minutes south-west of Green Bay.

Economy

Little Chute has been ranked #11 most affordable communities for housing by CNN Money Magazine. With the median house costing $118,000 and the median family salary of $71,563. Little Chute is also home to Jack’s Pizza and the largest pizza production facility in the United States.

Education

The Little Chute School District offers an elementary, middle/intermediate, and high school. Little Chute High School (LCHS) is proud to offer a small enough atmosphere in-order to maintain a family-type atmosphere, while still offering many of the programs larger schools offer.

Government

Little Chute is governed by a citizen elected, 7 member, Village Board of Trustees. The members of the board are Michael Vanden Berg – Village President, and 6 Village Trustee’s; John Elrick, Jim Hietpas, David Peterson, Bill Peerenboom, Larry Van Lankvelt, and Skip Smith.

Parks and Recreation

Little Chute Parks Department maintains 9 parks, spanning over 80 acres. Three of the major parks are Heesakker Park, Doyle Park, and Island Park.

  • Heesakker Park: This is one of the larger parks offering many features such as playground equipment, picnic areas, shelters, restrooms, sand volleyball court, rugby field, fishing, and hiking and nature trails. In the Winter there is also a sledding hill and ice skating rink.
  • Doyle Park: This park is geared toward those who are more active. Offering such things as a swimming pool, sand volleyball court, baseball field, basketball court, batting cage, and tennis courts.
  • Island Park: This lovely little park offers and handicap accessible fishing wharf and plenty of biking trails.
