10 Homes Made Famous By Movies and TV Shows

A Christmas Story: “You’ll shoot your eye out kid.”

A Christmas Story is perhaps most iconic Christmas movie of all time. The house used as an inspiration for the movie is located in Cleveland, Ohio. The house is now a museum with artifacts from the movie (leg lamp and all) and was recently refinished. The home is open year round for tours.

The Beverly Hillbillies:

“Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed. A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed, then one day he was shootin at some food, and up through the ground came a bubblin crude. Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.”

One of the classic black and white television shows, The Beverly Hillbillies, was actually not based on a home from Beverly Hills but on a home in Bel Air. The house was built by a developer for his wife, however upon seeing the home she stated she would never live in such a huge home (21,523 sq. ft). The developer never told his wife that he actually built the home for her. That aside, the home was modeled after a French château, and was bought for $13.5 million. It is a popular stop for tours in Bel Air.

Brady Bunch: “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha” -Jan

“Ohh my nose”- Marsha

“Mom always said not to play ball in the house”-Bobby

While the Brady’s lived in L.A. their home was modeled after a house in Studio Hills, CA. Since 1973, the same owners have lived in the iconic home. They bought the house for only $61,000! The Brady’s interior is much different than the actual interior of the home in Studio Hills.  In fact, the real home is a ranch, while the Brady’s had two stories!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: “Bueller…Bueller…Bueller?”

Ferris Bueller was made in 1986 and is still a popular film to this day. Ferris’s best friend Cameron had a very unique home in the film. The house is located in a suburb of Chicago, and is currently for sale! If you want to own this piece of movie history you will need $1.8 million.

Happy Days: “Heyyyyy”- Fonzi

While Happy Days took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the inspiration for their home actually came from LA. The current owners bought the home in 1995 for $442,000. While Fonzi lived in the apartment above the Cunningham’s garage, the actual home has no apartment in that location.

Nightmare On Elm Street: “Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep”

The spooky tale of Freddy Krueger is enough to send a chill down your spine. How would you like to live in the home that Freddy haunted? The home is on sale for about $1.3 million in Los Angeles.

The Simpsons: “D’oh!”-Homer Simpson

The Simpon’s home is located in Nevada. Both the inside and the outside of the home are almost exact replicas of the popular cartoon. Suprisingly, the home was not built by a Simpsons fan, but was built for the grand prize of a Pepsi/Fox contest “Simpsons Home Giveaway”.

Up: “Thanks for the adventure, now go have a new one.”- Ellie

The Up home was recreated in Utah and is now for sale! The listing is under Salt Lake City’s Parade of Homes and is selling for $400,000. From the portrait of Paradise Falls on the inside of the home to the mailbox made by Carl and Ellie on the outside, this home follows every detail from the popular movie!

Home Alone: “PETER! We slept in!” –Mr. & Mrs. McCallister

“Ahhhhhh”- Kevin

The Home Alone house was built in the 1920’s and is currently on sale! You can own this home for $2 million!

Scarface: “Say hello to my little friend!”- Tony Montana

The Scarface home is also on sale! The most expensive home on this list, priced at $35 million! Though the movie was shot in Miami, the actual house is in Santa Barbara, CA. The house has 10 acres of property overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It also has 5 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, heated swimming pool, hot tubs, and much, much more!
