Community Profile: Neenah


Neenah is one of the larger communities located in the Fox Valley with a growing population of over 25,000 people. This community is filled with welcoming citizens making it a great environment to live in. If you’re looking for a new community with a small town spirit, but a fast growing urban area then Neenah could be the place for you! Let’s take a closer look at Neenah in this community profile:

Location

Neenah has a beautiful location right along the shores of Lake Winnebago. It is part of Winnebago County and is in the southwestern portion of the Fox Cities of Northeast Wisconsin. Some cities located near Neenah are Appleton, Menasha, and Oshkosh.

Economy

Neenah has a strong economy with exceptional companies and dedicated workers. There are many different industries located within Neenah, which helps to strengthen the local economy. Three of the major companies located within Neenah are: Kimberly-Clark, Plexus, Bemis Co, Inc. The large variety of industries in Neenah brings in people from all over the Fox Cities for employment opportunities. The metro area’s business climate has earned it the ranking of third best market for business development among all small metropolitan areas in the nation.

Education

The Neenah public school system has been rated among some of the highest school systems in the Fox Cities. The rating is based on graduation rates, high college board scores as well as other factors. There are 15 different schools in the Neenah Joint School District; Neenah High School, Shattuck Middle School, and Clayton Elementary School are among the most popular.

Government

Neenah’s government is made up by Mayor Dean R Kaufert, and 9 members of the City Council.

Parks and Recreation

Neenah has 367 acres of developed park land. There are 24 parks throughout the City of Neenah and some of these parks are; Riverside Park, Island Park, Cook Park, and the Wilderness Park. Aside from the many parks, Neenah has 17 tennis courts, 1 archery range, 8 baseball diamonds, 2 basketball courts, 1 skatepark, 4 ice rinks, 16 soccer fields, 4 volleyball courts, and 12 playgrounds along with many other outdoor facilities.
